AA Band Saw Blade Case Study

Challenge
A flange producer in Eastern China reported that they were experiencing stripping while using the 54*1.6-1/1.5, 54*1.6-0.75/1.25 Pt BICHAMP saw blades.

Industry
The customer is a large flange manufacturer, mainly working with large forging blanks material. At present, it has more than 20 large-scale sawing machines, which require additional saw blade welding and tooth tip repair services.

Observation
Receiving the customer's feedback, BICHAMP dispatched a service team and R&D engineers to collect on-site information. After gathering data from more than 10 saw blades run through, including running-in new belt, regular cutting, and repair broke belts. Engineers determined the following conditions:
    1. Insufficient control over feeding speed
    2. Improper break-in procedures

Solution
Resetting the running parameters and complete a proper break-in on AA band saw blade, AA’s new cutting efficiency reached over 30 tons/piece,  much higher than the customer's previous 22 tons/piece requirement. Among the observed 10 AA band saw blades, only 1 has a tooth chipping due to inadequate lubrication that builds up excessive friction.
