Challenge

BICHAMP’s long time SEA partner reported continuing welding challenges. Although with years of expertise in the sawing industry, the customer was experiencing welding fractures that affected its reputation.

 

Observation

BICHAMP engineer noticed that the customer has facilities in both Malaysia and Singapore.

     1. In Malaysia, operators were not familiar with bimetal blades products. Their main product was woodworking carbon blades and the welding parameters were set accordingly.

     2. In Singapore, the customer had a brand new welding machine but operators were not trained to fully optimize its machinability. The machine frequently gives false alarms.

Solution

    1. Malaysia: Bimetal bandsaw’s cutting range is broader than carbon bandsaw, leading to more tension and toughness. Our engineer adjusted machine parameters and provided further training on operating manuals, increased customer’s operating efficiency.

    2. Singapore: Our engineer readjusted welding parameters and provided a welding parameter manual, different bandsaw specifications corresponded to different parameters. After the fix, the false alarm disappeared and the equipment was fully optimized for the maximum capacity.
